Smart electric meter

As an integral component of the smart grid, smart electric meters play an indispensable role. Smart electric meters, with smart chips as their core, utilize communication and computer technologies to measure electricity consumption, power, and time accurately. They can communicate with upper-level systems and serve as meters for electricity billing and management.

As an essential component of the smart grid, smart electric meters play an indispensable role. A smart electric meter, centered around a smart chip, utilizes communication technology, computer technology, and more to accurately measure and bill electricity consumption, power, and time. Additionally, it can communicate with upper-level systems and manage electricity usage. The main components of a smart electric meter chip include electricity metering chips, smart meter MCUs, carrier communication chips, and power supply chips.

In single-phase electric meters, the traditional power supply scheme involves drawing power from an AC transformer. This power is then distributed to the mainboard, PLC, and RS485 through step-down converters and LDOs. Additionally, a low-static-current LDO battery is required to draw power from the battery as a backup power source.

In applications involving three-phase electric meters, concentrators, and data collectors, the traditional power supply scheme involves three AC transformers drawing power from the three-phase electric input. Typically, in the system load, power is required for GPRS, so compared to single-phase electric meters, it necessitates a step-down converter of around 3A. Meanwhile, SCT2632/0 supports input voltage up to 65V, effectively expanding the input voltage range for such applications.
